Taking Care Of Dry Lips

Dry lips can be very unattractive and most times painful. If your lips are looking dry and flaky or you know someone with such, then you need to read this article judiciously.

Common symptoms of this condition includes
dryness, redness, cracking, flaking, and tender or sore lips.
Some of the causes of dry lips are vitamin deficiency, allergic reaction, dehydration, smoking, excessive licking of lips, sun exposure and harsh weather. One of the best solutions for managing dry lips is the use of lip balm. This will provide instant relief, but in most of the cases does not provide a long term solution.

SOME USEFUL TIPS.
Use a lip balm with sunscreen before stepping out..

Never peel the dead dry skin from the lips.

You should always keep your body hydrated by
drinking lots of water.People who do not drink enough water are more likely to get dry lips and dry skin.

Gently brush your lips using a soft toothbrush like I told you in the article about getting pink lips, to get rid of the dead cells that will cause more drying and flaking.

You should never lick of bite your lips, it will cause
more chapping.

Vitamin A rich food, like, carrots, tomatoes and green leafy vegetables should be included in the diet to solve the problem of your dry lips.

Apply lip balm every night before sleeping, you can use pure shea butter if possible.

 WAYS OF MANAGING DRY LIPS.

ALOE VERA.
If you are already using aloe vera for the various conditions that I have discussed under this platform, I am sure you would have been seeing result by now. Aloe Vera is an healing agent for our skin. Put a small amount of Aloe Vera gel on your lips daily to cure dry lips. Aloe Vera will strengthen the thin protective oil layer, which covers the lips. Simply apply Aloe vera gel to your dry lips and it will
provide a soothing and cooling, healing, as well as helping to restore the lips natural moisturizing condition.

CUCUMBER.
Cucumber can perform wonders on your lips as I have shared before and it will help you rid of dry lips. It also has skin lightening properties and helps remove tan. So it lightens your lips by reducing the dark patches on them.
Slice a cucumber and rub them gently on the lips. Just leave it for 15 minutes and wash off with plain water. This would also make your lips soft and supple.

HONEY.
Honey is a great moisturizer that also has healing and antibacterial properties as I also have shared earlier and you can use it to treat dry lips. Just apply pure organic honey on your dry lips several  times a day. You can also make a paste of honey and glycerin and apply it before going to bed to enjoy softer lips in the morning.

PETROLEUM JELLY.
Petroleum jelly is also very effective in treating dry
lips. Simply apply some petroleum jelly over your dry lipsbseveral times a day to keep them well protected. Reapply before going to bed to keep your lips well nourished during the night. You can also first put a light coat of honey on your lips, letit dry for a few seconds and then apply a light coat of petroleum jelly. Wait a few minutes and then remove  it with a cotton ball dipped in warm water. Repeat this remedy twice daily.

Use any of these methods to leave your lips soft and supplelike a child.
