Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jaleni Maraj, has been formally charged with felony predatory assault by a grand jury for raping a 12-year-old girl.
According to reports, Jaleni appeared at the sex crimes division of Nassau County Court yesterday for his arraignment with his lawyers Benjamin Brafman and Andrea Zellan.
Jaleni was arrested last year December for the crime and was released the same day on a $100,000 bail which was reportedly paid by Nicki Minaj Who put up her two homes in New York as collateral for the bond.
It was gathered that the alleged victim is the accused’s 12 year old step daughter and he has been raping the young girl for several months but he was arrested in December 2015.
Jaleni got married to the alleged victim’s mother, Jaqueline last year August and she also has an eight-year-old son. Their wedding was said to have been bankrolled by Nicki Minaj.
The grand jury had been deliberating the case for about a month before making the decision to indict him on 4th of April . The indictment means Maraj has officially been charged with felony predatory assault against a child, felony sexual conduct against a child under age 13, sexual conduct against a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. If he is convicted solely on the charge of felony predatory assault against a child, Maraj will face upwards of 15 years in prison.
